John Tsotsoros has
been described as singing "powerfully and very expressively" (Oberlin
Review) with "a ringing golden voice" (The Italian Voice). His finest
moments have been referred to as the "pinnacle of operatic action" (Times
Herald-Record).
Tsotsoros has
performed leading tenor repertoire in theaters across the United
States , most recently singing the roles
of Cavaradossi in Tosca and Maurizio
in Adriana Lecouvreur at Opera
in the Heights. He also recently sang Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at
the Little Opera Company of New
Jersey . He has performed Rodolfo in La Boheme at
the Connecticut Lyric Opera, the Regina Opera, and Opera of the Hamptons . He
is a favorite at the Natchez Opera Festival, where he has performed
the roles of Fenton in Falstaff, Luigi in Il Tabarro,
Freddy in My Fair Lady, and Fyedka in Fiddler
on the Roof. Tsotsoros performed
in the Tulsa Opera's production of The Little Prince as
Baobab and Hunter, and as the Prince in their outreach performances
of Rusalka. As an apprentice
at Lake George Opera he sang the role of Frank in the professional
premier of Our Town by Ned Rorem, and was featured in the
apprentice concert of Mozart and Menotti. Tsotsoros performed
with the Kansas City Puccini Festival in the roles of Cavaradossi in Tosca,
the title role in Edgar, and Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut. Tsotsoros was
invited as a guest artist to appear as Luigi in a concert of Il Tabarro at
Oberlin College. Has also performed the roles of Beppe in Pagliacci with
New Jersey Verismo and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi with
the Kansas City Conservatory at UMKC.
Tsotsoros has
been recognized at several prestigious vocal competitions. He
won the district level twice and placed 3rd at the regional level
of the Metropolitan Opera Council auditions. He also won the 2nd
prize at the Florida Grand Opera Competition.
